Information processed on your device

The app stores your preferences, saved locations, cached terrain results, event notification settings, and review prompt state on your device using Apple system storage. Local notifications are scheduled on your device through Apple notification services.

Location and terrain requests

If you use terrain-adjusted visible event estimates, the app sends the selected latitude, longitude, date, observer elevation, and terrain request parameters to the Relative Sunrise terrain service. The service uses this information to compute the terrain profile and visible event times.

The terrain service may cache terrain-profile responses, including the requested coordinate and date, for up to 30 days to improve performance and reliability. The app does not include a user account, name, email address, advertising identifier, or contact information in these terrain requests.

Operational logs

Server infrastructure may keep standard operational logs, such as IP address, request time, request path, response status, and user agent, to operate the service, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and improve reliability. Request bodies containing coordinates are not intentionally written to access logs.

Tracking and advertising

Relative Sunrise does not show ads, does not sell personal information, and does not use data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Data sharing

Terrain requests are processed by the Relative Sunrise terrain service and its hosting infrastructure for app functionality. We do not share location data with data brokers or advertising networks.

Your choices

You can use astronomical calculations without terrain refinement. You can delete saved locations and notification schedules in the app. You can also deny location permission and enter or save locations manually.
